Jimmy Goolsby, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, with 35 years of experience in the investment planning industry, today announced the formation of an independent firm – Paragon Wealth Counselors.

With offices on Piedmont Road, in the Buckhead Area – the business center of Atlanta, Goolsby said Paragon Wealth Counselors will offer an array of financial advising services including investment and financial planning, wealth management, tax planning and estate planning.

“Whether you are a business owner who is thinking about selling, a retiree or someone considering retirement, or an investor wondering what to do next, having a plan customized toward your goals is critical. We take the long view in establishing and managing your plan, but it needs to be flexible enough to adjust to the cycles of life and the markets,” Goolsby said.

Goolsby said the name Paragon was intentional because the definition of the word is “a model of excellence, “which is what the firm seeks to be. They partner with clients on a personal level, preparing for unexpected life events and managing wealth to achieve individualized aspirations and goals. Goolsby is partnering with Sowell Management, a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Sowell is a nationwide leader in the RIA space and was recognized in September by Barron’s as a Top 100 RIA. Known as the “advisors to financial advisors,” Sowell provides back-office services such as billing, account management and best-in-class technology.

It was the “best-of-class” technology services that drew Goolsby to Sowell Management. “With Sowell, Paragon will have the ability to elevate the overall client experience with technology that is customized and client friendly. Most technology at brokerage firms is limited because it is built for the masses,” Goolsby said.

Goolsby said you can’t replace the human element of service and relationships, but clients also want state-of-the-art technology that is functional and easy to use, which is what Paragon provides. “Having that was a deciding factor in forming Paragon” he added.

Bill Sowell, CEO and president of Sowell Management, said Paragon “is a firm that shares Sowell’s core principles of offering client-centered services with transparency and honesty.  Jimmy Goolsby and Paragon will be an asset to those looking for a respected firm that offers candid advice and reliable investment and financial planning. We are excited to begin building our relationship with them,” Sowell said.

Paragon Wealth Counselors’ team also chose to use Fidelity Investments, one of the largest custodians of investment advisory assets. They will provide custodial, operational, practice management and trading support.  “Together, we are able to provide clients a service level that will exceed expectations, and we’re proud to be doing it in our hometown of Atlanta,” Goolsby said.

Goolsby, an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF), began his career in investments in the 1980s. “Together with my clients – I have experienced the full circle of life cycles and investment cycles, and have learned what works for my clients and their investments in real life and in real time,” he said.
